Giuliani Boasts of 9/11 Heroism – “I’m One of Them”

by Anthony Mann

“I was at ground zero as often, if not ‘more’ than most of the workers…”

Presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani recently indicated that he did as much, or “more” than those who toiled in the debris of the Twin Towers in New York City, post 9/11…Yeah…Right

I guess the film crews who documented the dedicated workers at the World Trade Center site following September 11, 2001 inadvertently missed the boastful ex-mayor toiling amid the acrid smoke, toxic fumes and debris. It must have been an oversight on their behalf, because according to Giuliani, he was down there doing his heroic thing…but, isn’t it kind of strange how none of the ‘true’ rescue workers at ground zero, can remember this wimpy, pencil pusher’s claim?

Maybe they were all too busy to have noticed, or are suffering from stress induced, memory loss? Possibly, the air was too thick with smoke and ash to see Rudy dutifully, searching for the bodies of ‘true’ heroes amid the carnage? Perhaps, Giuliani was wearing a disguise…does anyone remember seeing a man in a gorilla suit sifting through the rubble at ground zero?

The ex-mayor of New York City boasted “I was at ground zero as often, if not more than most of the workers…” in a recent address to residents of Cincinnati, Ohio. Some of Rudy’s other claims were. I was there working with them; I was there guiding things; I was there bringing people there; I was exposed to exactly the same things they were exposed to…so, in that sense, I’m one of them.

He seemingly was going about his job as Mayor, and by most accounts, doing that job at City Hall, Gracie Manor, or in a chauffer driven limousine between points, fairly well. THAT is what he might truthfully boast about, should he choose, but if his distorted mind places him manually toiling in the wreckage of the Twin Towers following the attack by Islamic terrorists, he is certainly delusional. Personally, I would choose NOT to have such a boggled mind, floating around inside the la-la land, head of my President…how about you?

Remember this false claim while casting your vote in the coming primary elections. Remember how, he belittled the toil of the true, World Trade Center recovery workers by claiming to have been right at their side picking, through the rubble for body parts; breathing toxic dust into their once healthy lungs; having to find sleep in the evenings after handling the pieces of innocent victims, days and weeks after their death. Perhaps Giuliani was so traumatized by the 9/11 event that he has not yet fully recovered…in that case, he should seek mental health counseling…NOT, the Presidency.

“Adam Walsh Act” Designates U.S. MARSHALS TO CATCH UNREGISTERED SEX OFFENDERS

Washington, DC – The “Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act” was signed into law by President Bush today, on the 25th anniversary of Adam’s abduction and murder. The Act makes it a federal felony for convicted sex-offenders to fail to register with their local authorities.

The U.S. Marshals Service was designated by the Act as the agency to lead the national effort to track down and arrest these fugitive felons.

"We have been working with our state and local partners for some time to go after sexual predators, but when this legislation is fully implemented, unregistered sex offenders will be considered federal fugitives, and they will be a priority for Deputy U.S. Marshals across this country, “ said John Clark, Director of the Marshals Service.

“We look forward to working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to arrest those sex offenders who lurk in our neighborhoods, and threaten the safety of our children and communities,” added Clark.

The formation of the Sexual Predator Crimes Branch at Marshals Service headquarters was announced by Bob Finan, Assistant Director of Investigative Service Division. The new branch will ensure that the Marshals Service is prepared to rapidly respond to this new and critically important mission.

So far this Fiscal Year, from October 1, 2005 through July 26, the U.S. Marshals have arrested 718 unregistered sex offenders, an additional 1,849 fugitives for sexual assault charges, and also 1,257 fugitives wanted for other sex offenses.

During the week from April 17 to April 23 this year, the U.S. Marshals arrested 1,102 fugitives wanted for committing felony sex offenses, violent sexual assaults, and failure to register as sex offenders, during Operation FALCON II. This operation occurred primarily in the 27 states west of the Mississippi River

Operation FALCON II fugitives were wanted by the Marshals Service, other federal agencies, and courts at every level of government. Because the highest priority was given to sexual predators and unregistered convicted sex offenders, the USMS entered into a partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which provided high-profile cases and facilitated contacts with state agencies that maintain sex offender registries.

In the near future, Operation FALCON III will be conducted in the states and territories east of the Mississippi. The apprehension of felons wanted for sex offenses will again be a priority for the U.S. Marshals.
